We are thrilled to share the success of the kick-off meeting for the WELDIFY project, which took place in Thessaloniki. Hosted by the project leader CERTH (Centre for Research & Technology, Hellas), the meeting marked the beginning of an exciting journey to revolutionize the world of welding with a focus on inclusivity, sustainability, and cutting-edge technology.
The WELDIFY project is set to develop a toolkit that combines advanced welding techniques with robotics, aiming to equip learners, including those with disabilities, with the skills necessary for the future of the industry. The project focuses on promoting circular material welding, a practice that is essential for the automotive and construction sectors, which are increasingly relying on recycled materials to reduce their environmental impact.
The project consortium includes a diverse group of partners from across Europe, each contributing unique expertise to ensure the success of the initiative. The members include:
- CERTH (Greece) – Leading the project with expertise in research and technology
- Halmstad University (Sweden)
- YET NGO (Greece)
- Helixconnect Balkans (Serbia)
- ISIM (Romania)
- EIT Manufacturing East (Austria)
- International Institute of Welding (Italy)
- European Federation For Welding Joining And Cutting (Belgium)
- CTA – Fundacion Corporacion Tecnologica De Andalucia (Spain)
- REDASP – Regionalna agencija za ekonomski razvoj Sumadije i Pomoravlja (Serbia)
- C.S. Center for Sustainability Limited (Cyprus)
- IMPACTSci (Portugal)
- SUDOTIM (Romania)
The WELDIFY project aims to develop a cross-disciplinary, inclusive approach to material joining and welding, ensuring that the skills learned are aligned with real-world industry needs and provide opportunities for a more sustainable future. The project also emphasizes the integration of human-machine interaction in training programs, bringing automation and safety improvements to the welding sector.
With the support of these diverse partners, WELDIFY is poised to address some of the most pressing challenges in the welding industry today. Stay connected for more updates on how the project is progressing and the difference it will make for the future of welding!
