On January 30th, the DEEPWELD project officially launched with a dynamic online kickoff meeting. This marks the beginning of an exciting journey towards transforming the field of circular material welding (CMW) through deep-tech innovations and inclusive education.
DEEPWELD stands for Deep-tech driven inclusive and socially-aware circular material joining & welding. The project aims to revolutionize the welding industry by integrating advanced materials, AI-powered quality assurance, and human-machine interaction technologies. Our focus isn’t just on technical excellence but also on promoting environmental sustainability and creating opportunities for underrepresented groups, including people with disabilities.
Meet DEEPWELD Project Partners:
- CERTH (Centre for Research & Technology Hellas): The lead partner, driving content development and outreach with their expertise in advanced manufacturing.
- SUDOTIM (Romania): Quality assurance leaders specializing in innovative welding techniques and vocational training.
- YET (Youth | Entrepreneurship | Education | Technology, Greece): Champions of digital literacy and inclusion, leading dissemination and training activities.
Our Objectives:
1. Train 550 learners (students, industry professionals, and vocational trainees) in advanced CMW techniques.
2. Equip 100 trainers with deep-tech enabled tools, including robotics and assistive technologies, to create a more inclusive welding environment.
3. Foster entrepreneurial thinking and environmental awareness among participants.
Funded and supported by EU’s EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative (DTTI), DEEPWELD aims to bridge the deep-tech skills gap in Europe, particularly in the automotive and construction sectors where the demand for sustainable practices is skyrocketing.
Over the next year, DEEPWELD will roll out comprehensive training programs, host competitions, and build a strong network of learners and educators passionate about sustainable innovation.
