The expanding Greek film industry faces a skills shortage among new graduates, leading to reliance on foreign hires and increased costs. Inadequate educational preparation hinders success in the industry and creates obstacles for U.S.-Greek film collaborations.
“Film Beyond” is committed to addressing these challenges by equipping new artists and crew members with the essential skills and connecting them with industry opportunities, thereby bridging the gap between current educational offerings and the evolving needs of the film industry.
“Film Beyond” acknowledges the critical role of education in nurturing talent. By closely working with academic institutions, we aim to assist enrich current curricula and design new ones, ensuring that they align more closely with the real-world needs of the film industry today. This approach not only benefits students and professionals but also enhances the overall quality and competitiveness of Greek cinema.
The launch of “Film Beyond” marks a new chapter in the Greek film industry—one where education, skill, and opportunity converge to create a thriving, self-sufficient ecosystem. With the support of the US Embassy in Greece and the dedication of our partners and participants, we are setting the stage for a brighter, more inclusive future in cinema.
The “Film Beyond” project was inaugurated at the picturesque Thessaloniki Museum of Photography on Tuesday, March 12th, 2024. The event featured the unveiling of the project alongside its job platform, and included insightful discussions with a diverse array of stakeholders, such as the National Centre of Audiovisual Media and Communication (EKOME), the Greek Film Centre (ΕΚΚ), representatives from the City of Thessaloniki, and various academic and training institutions.
